My practice takes on various forms through sculptural works, installation and photography. With research around the past lives and present movements through ‘the home’, objects of the domestic sphere become the foundation of the work. These found items become recontextualised - taking on new forms that map out physical manifestations of images taken from a deep rooted family archive. The layering of images contained within my practice consists of various subject matters from family portraiture, to snapshots of the household - obscured and ill-defined via solar printing techniques. Warm and cool tones within the images are utilized to be understood as the comforting invitation into the work, or the subtle barrier that separates the public sphere from the private home.
With work expanding outside of the traditional frame, the making bleeds out into the space, interacting with those minor details of the gallery that may have been otherwise ignored. Working in this way, the material - with all its blemishes - becomes openly visible. inactive space gives the audience moments to interpret their personal domesticity within pockets of the inexplicit narrative that is carried out through the work. Trailing this fine line between the overtly public and inexplicit, you pick up on minute details as you move around the room, looking through the works as if glancing upon the window of a home as you pass by.
